3 Months Old- October 8, 2015

Another month flew by! She has become so interactive recently. She really knows who we are now and her face lights up when she sees mommy or daddy.

My baby girl has been sitting up more and doesn’t want to lay flat on my legs anymore. This busy little girl wants to see everyone and what’s going on in front of her. She has been getting more hair on top of her head and it’s getting darker. Might take after mommy instead of her ginger daddy! She loves her early morning and late night times, imitating mommy’s noises! I am always so impressed with her!

Recently, we went through a week where she wasn’t sleeping through the night. She would wake up screaming and I knew something was wrong. After much research and lots of our friend’s professional advice, we figured out it was acid reflux. Inclining her bed and waiting to lay her down after eating has helped her once again sleep through the night! What a happy and rested mommy I am now!

How is it possible to love someone this much?

My Baby Girl is 2 Months Old!

My little girl is 2 months old! I feel like it wasn’t too long ago when I spent my mornings fighting the urge to throw up breakfast-if I was even able to stomach breakfast that day. I felt like the 1st trimester was never going to end. I prayed that the baby taking over my body was healthy, but man did I want that phase to end so badly. Well, I got my wish, fast forward full speed, I have a two month old! She is perfect in every single way. Her smiles make my entire day, even after all the stress my new second graders have caused so far this year.

Full of smiles

Speaking of those second graders- they are such a chatty group this year and have really challenged me and my teaching. I have had to re-create behavior management tools, pump up the level of engagement, and be on my toes constantly. The other day my husband and I spent our time together before putting DH to bed making “Quiet Critters”. They may as well be magic. My kids think they are the most adorable little creatures and will sit like soldiers hoping to get one while they are working. Here is how they work- a Quiet Critter needs a quiet home. They want to be with someone who is going to work hard and quietly or they will find a new home to go to. Pretty simple but the impact is huge on the environment of my classroom. It’s magic! My chattiest children are so quiet that I almost can’t believe it is that simple! They are a fun but challenging group. This leaves me feeling completely worn down and exhausted by the time I pick up my smiley baby from daycare.

Quiet Critters!

Back to the smiles, DH is loving to chat back and forth with mommy and daddy recently. She has rolled over, been sleeping through the night for a few weeks now, tries sitting up when laying in my lap, and really enjoys spending time with lots of family. The first night she slept through the night, my hubby and I both checked multiple times to make sure she was still breathing. She has always been a good sleeper-I’m a firm believer of the Swaddle Me sleepers- she sleeps so well for us when she wears it. That 23 inch body has outgrown the size small so we recently have moved into the next size. I highly recommend these swaddlers. As much as I always wanted to rock my baby to sleep- I knew from working with infants that they soon will rely on that motion to put them to sleep. My husband and I had agreed that we would let her fall asleep on her own so that within months of her life she was a good sleeper. Let me say, it has worked out tremendously. We love that she sleeps between us in a co-sleeper and that she will fall asleep on her own and stay asleep.

Enjoying time with her babysitter

Have you heard of a Wubba Nub? I didn’t either until my sister’s little nanny kid had one. Adorable and serve a great purpose-count me in! Since we call DH our “little duck”, it was only fitting we purchase the duck Wubba Nub. At first we used it in her co-sleeper or her carseat as she didn’t ever hold onto it. Now that she has found her hands, she is all about holding onto it. This can be good and bad for us. The good is that she figured out how to shove the pacifier part back into her mouth if it is in close range. The bad is that she likes to hold onto the side of the duck’s arm and yank that sucker out without meaning to, then screaming because she wants her pacifier back! She’ll figure it out sooner or later! I just love how every day she changes and is becoming so interactive and fun.
